Un très beau texte  de Cohen dans son dernier livre :

"LE FONDEMENT DE L'ÊTRE EST VIDE. C'est un néant dans lequel il n’y a pas d'objet, pas de temps, pas d'espace ni de pensée. Pourtant ce non-lieu vide a quelque chose de miraculeux et de mystérieusement fascinant. Si vous entreprenez le voyage que je décris, vous découvrirez cela par vous-même, au-delà du temps, au-delà de la pensée, au-delà du soi, au-delà de l'altérité, au-delà du monde. Quand tous ces objets s'évaporent, ce qui reste est ce fondement. Le fondement de l'Etre n'est pas un objet, et est donc parfois décrit comme le zéro. En focali­sant votre attention sur le zéro, ou sur absolument rien, vous réalisez que cela n'est ni mesurable ni quantifiable et toujours insaisissable pour votre esprit linéaire et rationnel. Le mental est habitué à se concentrer sur des objets — c'est sa fonction. En essayant de vous concentrer sur quelque chose qui n'est pas un objet, le mental ne sait plus quoi faire. Mais si vous prenez la décision de le faire, vous pourrez commencer à pénétrer au-delà de la perspective duelle qui détermine la plus grande part de votre expérience. Quand vous vous focalisez sur le zéro — quand quelque chose médite sur le « rien » - un renversement soudain peut vous projeter au-delà du mental et du temps. Alors s'ouvre une dimension non conceptuelle de la perception qui d'ordinaire n'est pas accessible. À travers la contemplation du zéro, vous percez un trou dans les structures de votre ignorance et pénétrez le mystère de la conscience.

La contemplation de la conscience — qui est la contemplation d'absolument rien — est éternellement fascinante. C'est comme regarder fixement une bougie dans la nuit noire — vous êtes hypnotisé par quelque chose qui ne change pas et qui pourtant reste infiniment captivant. Vous êtes attiré par quelque chose que vous ne pouvez pas comprendre rationnellement mais que votre cœur ou votre âme saisit entièrement. Vous êtes-attiré, et dans cette attraction, seule la nature éternelle et hors du temps de l'Etre vous paraît réelle. Vous êtes dans un état d’extase car la partie la plus profonde de vous-même a été libérée des peurs et préoccupations sans fin de 1’ego, et se retrouve totalement en dehors du processus du temps.

Le fondement de l'Etre, sans fond et vide, n'a pas besoin d'affirmation de l'extérieur ; il est déjà toujours parfait, accompli et complet. Mais il veut se connaître lui-même. Il se cherche éter­nellement, et quand il se trouve, il s'affirme dans sa découverte de lui-même. L'ETRE ne veut que se délecter éternellement de lui-même, infiniment absorbé par sa nature infinie. L’essence même de la conscience au niveau le plus profond se révèle être ravissement de soi.

En étant attentif au fondement vide de votre expérience de la conscience, vous verrez que le ravissement de soi est sa nature. Encore une fois, la conscience n'est pas un objet. La conscience est le sujet - sujet qui médite en permanence sur lui-même. Lorsque vous avez localisé cette pure subjectivité et avez cultivé assez de concentration pour devenir conscient de ses qualités, vous découvrez qu'en effet le niveau le plus profond de la conscience est mystérieux et infiniment fascinant. C'est sa nature absolue. Après cinq minutes ou cinq ans, la redécouverte de ce fondement sans fond vous semblera miraculeusement toujours nouvelle." Andrew Cohen

So what happened?



We’re aware that there have been many conflicting reports about the events leading to the collapse of the EnlightenNext community, coupled with a great deal of understandable confusion, distress and anger in the aftermath. As a consequence, we feel the time is right to begin to share Andrew’s perspective on what happened, and a new direction for the future.



As many of you will likely know, in April 2013, following extensive discussions with senior students and the publication of a short online apology, Andrew stepped down from EnlightenNext. Shortly afterwards the organisation folded, the student body disbanded, and everyone went their separate ways.



Andrew is painfully aware that the entire episode was badly handled, and that many were left in limbo. There was very little clarity, and virtually no sense of closure for anyone. For many students at the periphery of EnlightenNext, and for those who had a deep or growing interest in the teachings but perhaps less formal involvement, it was completely unexpected and shocking.



Andrew, too, was in deep shock. He took a long break from public life, during which he went through a challenging personal ordeal. He discovered that while his awakening had been profound and authentic, at the same time there were disowned and unexamined psychological issues that had remained in play.



Thus began some deep emotional and psychological work, and a series of revelations about his own condition and unconscious motives. To his horror, he realised that these issues had caused suffering to many of his students in ways he did not understand at the time.



In 2015, following further revelatory experiences with the Amazonian plant medicine Ayahuasca, Andrew published an extensive apology, in which he took full responsibility for the hurt and suffering he had caused as a consequence of these unexamined motives.



What now?



Many of the people closest to Andrew at the time of the crisis have moved on. We fully respect the path they have chosen, and understand that everyone must meet the complex challenges of these issues in their own way.



We have chosen our own path, and we feel that now is the time to speak out. To date, the narrative has been shaped largely by critical voices, and our sense is that it has become increasingly distorted and one-sided as a result.



We have no wish to silence these voices; indeed many of these criticisms have been acknowledged by Andrew himself. However, the story of EnlightenNext has many facets, and the full reasons for its collapse have not yet been clearly articulated.



For this reason, in the interests of embracing the complexity of the issues raised by the dramatic rise and fall of the community, we feel that a clearer and more nuanced perspective is needed. The lessons of failure are squandered if we become fixated and immobilised by the failure itself, and therefore our focus is to reach for a higher synthesis of understanding in which we can clearly distinguish the baby from the bathwater.



For many critics of Andrew it seems it’s all bathwater, and we feel the time is long overdue to move on from this polarised perspective. We want to fully acknowledge what wasn’t right without denying all that was true and good.



In recent months, Andrew has begun to rediscover the gift of awakened consciousness that touched so many people during the first 27 years of his teaching career. Simultaneously, he has woken up to his own flawed humanity, and the lens through which the teaching is expressed has been profoundly reshaped by his experiences and insights over the past four years.



It is this shift in emphasis, and the implications of it, that Andrew wishes to share and explore with you over the coming months and years. We sincerely hope that many of you will want to join us, and help us shape what we hope will be a very new direction for spirit in the 21st century.



Who are we?



We are a small group of friends, students and partners of Andrew Cohen who support him in returning to teaching work. We are not in any way blind to, or ignorant of, the issues that led to the demise of EnlightenNext, and there is no sense in which we wish to downplay or overlook the mistakes of the past.



Rather, we recognise in this a profound opportunity for growth, and a responsibility to uphold the beauty and potential of this authentic and extraordinary spiritual teaching in a new and emerging context. While we acknowledge our own potential as vehicles for spirit, we also welcome and embrace the fact that certain individuals have a rare gift for teaching or transmitting spirit.



What's next?



Andrew’s gift remains undimmed, and we feel his recent discoveries are a badly needed salve; in the light of his own dramatic fall from grace, it is his aim to illuminate the reasons why such catastrophic failures occur in so many spiritual communities. Most importantly, he has been grappling with the question of how we can evolve the teacher-student model for the future.

Il n'y a rien à démontrer, personne à qui démontrer, personne qui démontre.



Il arrive un moment (ou en tout cas il paraît souhaitable qu'il arrive) où l'on se rend compte qu'il n'est pas nécessaire d'écouter parler ou de lire écrit ce que l'on en dit, de ce fameux silence, de ce fameux "rien".
